Please join us for an evening devoted to your health! According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosis for both women and men in the U.S., excluding skin cancers (www.cancer.org). Due to busy lives, caregiving responsibilities, and the tendency to focus on others before ourselves, many of us delay self-care, such as scheduling appointments for routine colon cancer screenings to detect cancers when they are most easily treated. Some of us are fearful of being screened, or we may not know how to best educate and protect ourselves to reduce the risks of being diagnosed with cancer in the first place. During this program we will discuss cancer prevention, cancer screenings, early detection and its barriers, and available community resources, including referrals for FREE cancer screenings for uninsured or underinsured participants provided by a White Plains Hospital Cancer Care Patient Navigator. A light dinner will be served.
This program, which will be presented in English and Spanish, is co-hosted by Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT, the Westchester County Department of Health, Cancer Support Team, the American Cancer Society, and White Plains Hospital.
