Join the YWCA’s Children’s Learning Center (accredited by NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) for high-quality, diverse early care and education programs that create a strong foundation for life-long learning. In a nurturing environment with a credentialed, committed staff, children have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Serving infants (8 weeks) through elementary school-aged children.
The Children’s Learning Center programs provide rewarding age-appropriate activities in safe, structured, and positive environments. We believe that all programs for children must be based on a solid knowledge of the students served; how they learn, how they play, how they interact with adults, and how they interact with peers. The goal of the Children’s Learning Center is to encourage exploration, learning, discovery, and independence to help children reach their fullest potential through active learning with well-planned activities. In addition, we strive to meet the individual needs of each student, enhancing a positive sense of self with a group setting.
The YWCA prides itself on the quality of our teaching staff, and we know that they are our greatest asset. Our staff meets regularly to plan programs, set goals, assess individual children’s needs as well as group needs, and to review policies and practices. In addition, all staff participate in ongoing training as required by the New York State Office for Children and Family Services Licensing and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation guidelines. The Children’s Learning Center Director has over forty years of experience in the field of early education. The Center also works with a consulting Registered Nurse.
