Philosophy
The Children’s Learning Center programs provide rewarding age-appropriate activities in safe, structured, and positive environments. We believe that all programs for children must be based on a solid knowledge of the students served; how they learn, how they play, how they interact with adults, and how they interact with peers.

The goal of the Children’s Learning Center is to encourage exploration, learning, discovery, and independence to help children reach their fullest potential through active learning with well planned activities. In addition, we strive to meet the individual needs of each student, enhancing a positive sense of self with a group setting.

The YWCA values its relationships with families as the most important factor in providing high quality early care and education.

Who we serve:
Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers and Elementary School Aged Students

Our facilities:
The Chldren's Learning Center offers brightly designed age-appropriate classrooms. Children have access to other areas of the YWCA through their regularly scheduled programming including: dance studio and mini gym for indoor gross motor and sports activities; gymnasium during scheduled gymnastics classes; pool during scheduled swim classes; and lower lounge area. Our fully equipped and enclosed outdoor playgrounds provide opportunities for children to explore the natural world around them, as well as engage in critical outdoor recreational play.

Our staff:
The YWCA prides itself on the quality of our teaching staff, and we know that they are our greatest asset. Our staff meet regularly to plan programs, set goals, assess individual children’s needs as well as group needs, and to review policies and practices. In addition, all staff participate in ongoing training as required by the New York State Office for Children and Family Services Licensing and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accreditation guidelines.

The Children’s Learning Center Director and Associate Director have over forty years of experience in the field of early education. They are supported by an Associate Director, responsible for the After School program; Educator; Registration and Billing Coordinator; and Head and Assistant Teachers. The Center also works with a consulting Registered Nurse.
