Whether you have a Fitness-Room-Only membership or are a patron with the All-Access Plan, you will find the Fitness staff to be welcoming and supportive of your health and wellness goals. They can assist with orientation to machines in the Fitness Center and also help coordinate private training sessions. Men and Women are welcome at all of our classes and programs.

A Matter of Balance Program
YWCA Fall Prevention Program aimed at improving flexibility, balance and strength to mitigate and prevent falls. Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. This award-winning program is designed to manage falls and increase activity levels and is led by certified staff. Click here for more information.

Personal Training
Become another YWCA success story by working with one of our trainers. Whether you choose to train five times a week or month a month, a trainer’s guidance and motivation will go a long way tin helping you reach your health and fitness goals. Ask about multiple session discounts at the Fitness or Front Desk.

The YWCA is delighted to partner with Westchester Karate to bring this martial arts program to our facility. Westchester Karate instructors will teach the traditional Okinawan Goju-Ruy Karate. Instructors: Chris Graham, Roko-Dan Sixth Degree Black Belt, Ni Dan Second Degree, Go Dan Fifth Degree; and Debbie Batterman Yon Dan Forth Degree. Click here for brochure.

Sheridan Fencing Academy of Westchester LLC brings their unique progrm to the YWCA. Students advance through program curriculum by taking periodic tests and assessment skills. Fitness Classes
A variety of fitness classes are included with All-Access Plan. Fee-extra classes are offered by session including Yoga with Chris Glover, Weight Training and small group training.
(Note: classes and times are subject to change. Check the current catalogue or class listing to confirm available classes). In addition, patrons are welcome to "drop-in" at $20/day to use the Center and/or take a Fitness Class. See class listing above.

Below is a sample list of classes offered.

Cardio: We offer a variety of Cardio classes that include high or low intensity cardio movements while also incorporating time for Pilates and stretching or strengthening moves that build muscles groups

Pilates: This class strengthens and tones the muscles of the core, improving posture, flexibility and balance. Mind and body connection is emphasized as well as correct breathing and technique. Modifications are taught so all levels can participate. The class ends with a mind-body connecting relaxation.

Power Sculpting: This class provides a full body workout using weights, bands, body bars and other resistance equipment. The format changes each week to allow participants to try various venues for sculpting and toning muscles. Modifications are given to accommodate all levels.

Spinning & Core: A 45-minute spinning class that is fun for the beginner or the seasoned athlete. It revs up your metabolism, builds strength and improves your cardiovascular endurance. It is followed by 15 minutes of core work.

Weight Loss & Toning:  Get a full body workout in our Fitness Center under guidance of a trainer. Learn how to work at an ideal level of cardiovascular intensity and how to exercise with proper form to burn fat and get toned. Ideal for all ages!

Yoga: Yoga is the oldest system of personal development. Yoga tones, stretches and strengthens the body through postures, breathing and meditation. It liberates vast resources of energy, calms the nerves, produces beneficial changes in the immune system and improves one's mental state of being. Experience firsthand the profound benefits of yoga practice.

Zumba: These classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

Afternoon Yoga: Take yoga with legendary instructor Chris Glover. This 90-minute class will stretch and strengthen your body while reducing stress.

Cardio/Interval Training: HITT - High Intensity Interval Training. Incorporate periods of low intensity workout with period of higher level intensity. Program designed for all ages; Increases body ability to oxidize fat/increase metabolism; Increase overall endurance; Helps the sedentary individual improve their daily activities and allow athletes to reach full potential; Variety of interval training programs weekly. If you stick to the same workout, over time you burn less calories. Keep your body progressing and keep up with the changes in your body with interval training.

Weight Training for Seniors: Strengthening exercises are important for maintaining integrity of muscles and bones as well as improving balance, coordination, and mobility and well as. In addition, strength training can help reduce the signs and symptoms of many chronic diseases, including arthritis.
